Star athletes compete in provincial tourney

They held their school’s name high as they performed well in adverse weather conditions.
Brooklyn Croxon came second in the g/10 long jump. She achieved a personal best of 3,64m to secure her Mpumalanga colours. She will represent the province at the SA Championships in Paarl on March 20.
Amber Greeff completed the 200m hurdles. She was placed fourth in her age group and qualified for the finals. Unfortunately due to a wet
track, the finals were cancelled. Amber’s time from her heat placed her sixth overall.
Jeanne Joubert competed in the gruelling 1 500m and 800m events
contested by a large group of athletes. She came seventh in the 1 500m and ninth in the 800m.
Zander van der Merwe competed in the b/12 javelin. This is a very technical event for a young boy. He recorded a distance of just over 29m.
The top three boys were within 90cm of one another. Zander achieved a bronze medal.
This was the first time Curro had four athletes at this competition.
