Parkrun race is a success

Comrades legend and parkrun SA head, Bruce Fordyce, welcomed runners to the race. This was White River's first-ever parkrun and was very well supported.

The extremely popular parkrun event took place at Ingwenyama Conference & Sport Resort on Saturday, March 15.

Results

Men

1st – Cyprian Mthombeni in 20:12.

2nd – Simon Attwood in 20:41.

3rd – Steve Turvey in 20:55.

Women

1st – Tracy Rankin – was first (8th overall) over the line in 24:07 – first appearance.

2nd – Brenda Wesi in 25:58.

3rd – Joanne van der Walt in 26:33.

Best age-grade scores

1st – David Gear in 23:41 (7th overall).

2nd – Simon Attwood in 20:41 (second overall).

3rd – Cyprian Mthombeni in time 20:12 (first overall).

A total of 96 runners competed of whom 91 were first timers. Representatives of 11 different athletics clubs took part.

The women’s record is held by Tracy Rankin who recorded a time of 00:24:07 in event one. Cyprian Mthombeni holds the men’s record in 00:20:12. The age-grade course record is held by David Gear who recorded a 71,50% run (23:41). Bruce Fordyce ran his 100th parkrun, earning the coveted black T-shirt. The White River park run is held every Saturday morning at 08:00. Come and walk or run in a safe park environment at the Ingwenyama Conference & Sport Resort.
