White River club deliver the goods in bowling tourney
The team of Lynn Nicholas, Della Peplow, Basil Nicholas and Carol Frankle of White River were the overall winners of the Legogote Bowling Tournament on March 29 and 30.

Eighteen teams took to the greens with gusto as all were eager to win. The format was seven games of 12
ends that were played over two days, four on Saturday and three on Sunday.

The greens were tricky. Some bowlers found the right weight and the exact right curve
to get their bowls as close as possible to the jack.
The others were not so lucky and struggled. The tournament soon came to an end on Sunday afternoon and prize-giving followed in the club house.
Results in the premier section
• 1st – Lynn Nicholas, Della Peplow, Basil Nicholas and Carol Frankle with 75 points
• 2nd – Madeleine Wilson, Shaun Janse van Vuuren, Tinus Janse van Vuuren and Quentin Wilson with 68,5 points.
Results in the plate section
• 1st – Rex Goulding, Lesley Goulding, Peter Maggs and Pat Maggs with 36 points
• 2nd – Johan Botha, Len Beattie, Marilyn Coulson and Elinor Storkey with 31 points.
• Boobie prize – Maureen Roux, Malcolm Tyerman, Shirley Tyerman and Maureen Steinbrucker with 12 points (LVCC).
A spider was played and the money was donated to the staff of White River Bowling Club. The men’s spider was won by Derrick Grobler and the ladies by Martie Janse van Vuuren.
Most ladies touchers were won by Beryl Biggs with a total of 24, and it was a tie between Derrick Grobler and Malcolm Tyerman with 18 each.
Spot prizes were won by Val Mannion, Hanelie Duncan, Ben Enslin, Hanlie Nel, Marie Stander, Hardus Korff, Greg Anderson and Mike Mannion.
