Lowveld High set on winning
The soccer players of Lowveld High School (LHS) made history last week as they beat Cyril Clarke 5-1 in the Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup.

The play-offs took place at the Cefups Academy on May 13.
The prize money is R3,4 million and the winning school receives a whopping R1 million. This year those involved are Lowveld High, Edgeview Academy, St Mark’s, Mathews Phosa College, Entabamhlophe Combined, Valencia Combined, Cefups Academy and Cyril Clarke Secondary School.
Former pupil of LHS and coach, Bongani Ronald Masimango, explained that they competed in the tournament for the fifth time and made the provincials once before in 2012, when they were knocked out in the semi-finals.
His strategy for this year’s Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup is simple, “It’s all about winning, we want to score a minimum of five goals per game, to make sure that we are at the top of the log.”
