Golfer excels in Scotland
The recent Lytham Trophy champion who hails from Mbombela, Thriston Lawrence, finished in the top 20 in the Carrick Neil Scottish Open Stroke Play Championship in Scotland on Sunday.

The 17-year-old opened with back-to-back 71s, but a 76 in the third round caused him to drop out of the top 20. However, the double Sanlam South African amateur champion vaulted to a tie for 20th with a closing 69.
The South African trio, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, NJ Arnoldi and Lawrence met up with compatriots Zander Lombard, Louis Taylor, South African Stroke Play champion Jason Smith and team manager, Llewellyn van Leeuwen that evening. The team will compete in the Andrews Links Trophy from June 6 to 8. Following a test against a side from the Scottish Golf Union, they will line up in the prestigious Amateur Championship at Royal Portrush and Portstewart from June 16 to 21.
During the trip, he also used the opportunity to test himself against the professionals on the Jamega Pro Golf Tour. The player also caught up with 2011 Open champion, Darren Clarke, at Royal Portrush.
