Bam rules the green in masters
Determination and willpower were key to Joey Bam's victory in the Mpumalanga Lowveld Seniors Ladies Invitational Mini Masters which was hosted at the Nelspruit Bowling Club on May 31 and June 1.

It was a very long, hot but rewarding two days for the 12 senior ladies Joey Bam, Toekie Botha, Lettie Ambrosius, Veronica Coertzen, Marilyn Coulson, Annetjie Nel, Anne Dold, Lynn Nicholas, Gillian Beattie, Beryl Biggs, Sandra Corbet and Marietjie Willers.
The greens were in a pristine condition, but for some it was about finding the right curve and the exact weight to get it as close as possible to the jack.
The format of play was singles and the bowler who reached 21 points first was declared the winner, receiving two points for the game. There were two sections with
six bowlers in each. Some players reached up to 30 ends before a winner was declared.
Three games were played on day one (Saturday), two games were played on the Sunday and the finals were held on the last day.
After the completion of the five games it was clear that Bam of Barberton in section one was the master of the greens with eight points and a shot aggregate of 19. Runner-up was Lettie Ambrosius with six and a shot aggregate of 22. In section two it was Toekie Botha of LVCC with eight points and a shot aggregate of 27 and runner-up was Veronica
Coertzen with eight and a shot aggregate of 23.
In the finals, Bam had to take on Botha for first or second place and ruled the green by beating her opponent 21-5. Veronica Coertzen, who had to play against Lettie Ambrosius of White River, had the upper hand and took third place.
