Young karatekas scoop several medals
Ten students of the Tranquility Health and Fitness Centre competed in the Combat Tang Soo Do Free State Championships on May 31, held at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein.
They all braved the cold and brought home the gold.
The following fighters competed:
Christo van Wyk (coach), Chelsea Seymore, Hugo Smit, Darian Hamilton, Juan Broekman, Devan Meyer, Linique Joubert, Monica Joubert, Christo van Wyk (Jr) and Dhandré van Wyk. They excelled in each of their divisions and took the following medals:
• Dhandré van Wyk, sparring – silver, weapon forms – gold, traditional forms – silver
• Darian Hamilton, sparring – bronze
• Juan Broekman, sparring – gold, traditional forms – bronze
• Devan Meyer, sparring – silver
• Christo van Wyk Jr, traditional forms – silver
• Linque Joubert, sparring – gold, traditional forms – silver
• Monica Joubert, sparring – gold, traditional forms – silver
• Hugo Smit, sparring – gold
• Christo van Wyk, sparring – gold, weapon forms – silver, traditional forms – gold.
