Sky comes alive with paragliders

For three days since Saturday the sky above Barberton was once again filled with brightly coloured paragliders.

It was a spectacular air raid and part of the build-up to the annual paragliders championship scheduled for June 28 to July 5.

Although Sunday was not a great day for flying due to the weather, Saturday was marvelous. Andrea Botha of Barberton Odyssey said, “Two great tasks were completed during these days.

We had pilots from Mbabane, originally of Spain, who also flew over the weekend.”

Although it was not a competition, three winners, in no specific order, were announced on Monday afternoon.

They were Andrew Smith, Abe Meyer and Anton Naudé. “All in all everyone from the clubs that participated enjoyed the weekend immensely,” said Botha.
