Country-run tough but breathtaking
The race that takes runners out into the beautiful countryside among the smallholdings on the outskirts of town, the Mozma, is in less than two weeks.
The Legogote Villagers had their pre-run for the competition this past weekend.
“It is tough but it’s the most beautiful scenic route through the forests and it’s absolutely breathtaking,” said one of the runners, Janine Bethwaite. Participants can enter the 21-, 10- or an easy 5km. It takes place on Saturday July 19 and starts at White River Rugby Club.
It is an out and back race with half of the route being run on tar and the other half on dirt roads. It is a challenging route with uphills and downhills all the way. Legogote Mountain is visible at various places throughout the run. Category winners will receive prizes and all finishers will receive a medal. First man and woman to finish the 21km will receive a cash prize of R800. There is a 5km fun run and medals will also be handed out to all finishers. Entries will be accepted the day before the race from 17:00 to 18:30 at the White River Rugby Club. Late entries will be accepted from 5:00 on race day.
