Trampoline gymnast grabs a gold at SA’s

Carolien Pienaar received a gold medal for her great performance at the SA Gymnastic Games.

For most of us a trampoline spells hours of bouncy fun, but for Carolien Pienaar it is a serious sport. This nine-year-old Uplands Prep pupil has been practising trampoline gymnastics for a year and a half and has already achieved great success in her field.

Carolien recently participated in the SA Gymnastics Games at the Bellville Velodrome Stadium and the Good Hope Centre in Cape Town and won a gold medal in her category. The tournament is held every second year and all gymnastics disciplines gather to compete against the best in the country.

Carolien participated in the Euro trampoline level 4 (u/10) category and took home the gold for her excellent performance.

She says it was an unbelievable experience to see all the different types of gymnastics under one roof and that it felt like the Olympic Games.

The young gymnast is part of the White River Trampoline Club and practises an hour a day. She is also a brilliant swimmer and has to make time to get into the water as well.
