MMA star prepares for battle
Botes will take on the relatively unknown Bill Thusi in a bantamweight division fight on Saturday February 21 at Carnival City in Johannesburg.
It’s a new year with new expectations for the Lowveld’s MMA fighter, Lourens Botes as he partakes in his first Extreme Fighting Championships (EFC) Africa Battle of the Year at EFC 37.
Botes will take on the relatively unknown Bill Thusi in a bantamweight division fight on Saturday February 21 at Carnival City in Johannesburg.
Botes, who is currently based in Mbombela, has had a couple of split decisions not going his way, with him going down in his previous fight against Oumpie Sibeko on points.
His only victory thus far has been against Baldwin Mdlalose in EFC 31 by submission after a three-fight losing streak. He is now hungrier than ever to get another win under his belt.
Thusi has less experience having lost his only EFC fight to date against Sizwe Mnakathi at EFC 33. This Durban fighter will be doing his utmost to make a name for himself at the more experienced Botes’ expense.
This all culminates into an intriguing contest between these two competitors who once the fight is over, will be celebrating their second victory.
