Penryn swimmers conquer mile

A total of 52 swimmers of Penryn College participated in the recent Midmar Mile.

It was a highly successful weekend. A total of 29 girls and 23 boys participated over the weekend. On Saturday the pupils showed their support for local hero Allison Williams who completed the Midmar-8-Mile challenge.

The fastest times were achieved by Vidhaan Singh with 26:30; Grant Carstens, 26:54; Megan Short, 25:54; Reuben Liebenburg, 30:12; James Goldschmidt, 32:08; Dani van der Horst, 31:34 and Sabrina Beretta 31:54.

Vidhaan came fifth in his category at his company relay race on Saturday. Grant Carstens ended 291st overall in his category on Sunday in the race for men over 13 and under 30. Megan ended 30th in her category on Saturday and Reuben Liebenburg was 93rd in his race.

Daniella van der Horst and Sabrina Beretta came 131st and 145th respectively. Robert van der Horst with a time of 33:29 ended 14th in his category on Saturday.

Seth Sproule came 19th in his category on Saturday in a time of 35:51.
