Riders display stellar horsemanship

Numerous locals demonstrated their showjumping skills at Nottinghill Equestrian Estate this weekend, showcasing the high standards of horsemanship which we have become accustomed to in Mpumalanga.

The show was held on Saturday and Sunday, and prizes to the value of R300 000 were awarded to the competitors.

The Sponsor a Load of Sand initiative had spectators and riders clambering to donate funds in exchange for a voucher for a night’s stay in the luxurious Go Touch Down Resort at Hartebeespoort. The riding community pulled together to improve the facilities and in total 12 loads of sand were sponsored for the arenas at Nottinghill.

Hanelize Kamffer took home the coveted prize of a weekend’s stay at the prestigious Dunkeld Estate. This was during a lucky draw held by “Boss Lady” of Nottinghill, Kraai Kamffer. Dressed in smart showjumping attire, the competitors rode well and Nottinghill instructors Kraai, Hennie Groenewald, Lydia Kapp, Wilko Kamffer and Liz Marie Crous reaped the fruit of their labour as many of their students excelled.
