Sports brings people together
This past Sunday, the KaMhlushwa Sports Committee hosted a sports day for the community. According to the organiser, Vusi Ndlovu, the goal was to encourage locals to lead healthy lifestyles.
He said, “This is an initiative to motivate local residents to be active. Another objective of the initiative is that by June, we should be nurturing all the sporting talent we have witnessed during the course of the day.”
The event catered for soccer, netball, sevens rugby, volley ball, boxing, and chess.
Locals who wished to participate were demarcated according to the area in which they reside. The areas were divided into East gate, KZN, Zone one and Mauritius.
Participating locals who excelled were rewarded with medals and trophies.
“We appreciate the support we have received from the community. They came out in numbers to support and make the day a success. I would like to thank them and also encourage other sport committees from other villages to plan a similar event,” Ndluvo said.
Community members have been invited to attend the selection of an official committee which will head the committee.
