Action packed matches played in the Selati Cup in Nkomazi

In football, the score is never absolute until the referee blows the final whistle, as was the case this weekend with the Selati Cup matches.

 

The action kicked-off simultaneously across three stadia on Saturday morning in Nkomzi.

In Steenbok, Eastern Transvaal kick-started the day by taking on Boeing 707 at the Mbunda Secondary School, sports field.After 90 minutes, the two sides played to a single goal game in favour of Eastern Transvaal.

Jan Leeds took on Block C Blue Birds in the second match of the day, only to play to a disappointing goalless draw.Blue Birds flew back home after being defeated 5-3 on penalties by Jan Leeds.

Masibekela Young Heroes mowed the pitch with SDN Young Buffaloes, trashing them with an unbearable, however impressive 7-0 victory.

The last game of the day at the school was between Mahlane Tigers and SDN Dynamos.Failure to raw by the Mahlane Tigers, saw them exiting the tournament with a 1-0 defeat.

In the 16-games thriller weekend, the Mzinti community was not left out of the picture.They were treated to their share of the sweetness of the Selati when, Lubombo Young Stars took on Tornado FC at the Young Pirates soccer field.

Soccer lovers were treated to a one-all draw after 90 minutes and the sweetness lingered on when the two sides went into the penalty shootout.Young Stars survived Tornado FC’s storm with only a single penalty kick and grabbed a 6-5 win.

Mawewe Stone Breakers and Tonga Real Taj disappointed spectators when they too, played to a goalless draw.However, when they went into the penalty shootout, the two sides were neck-to-neck, with neither side willing to let go.

Fortune was on Tonga Real Taj’s side on the day, as they walked away with a 8-7 victory on penalties.Lugedlane Stone Breakers failed to break ground when they took on Langeloop Eastern Stars.

Eastern Stars shined bright with their 2-0 victory in over Lugedlane Stone Breakers in regulation time.

Malelane Juveniles grabbed a slender 2-1 victory over Langeloop Junior Pirates, when the two sides met at the Kamhlushwa stadium.Mbuzini Hotspurs prevailed against Mzinti Mighty Bucs, entering the next round of the tournament with a 2-0 win to their name.

Local rival, Langeloop City Movers and Langeloop Black burn United, were locked necked-to-neck, producing a one-all draw.However, Langeloop Black Burn United grabbed the spot with a 3-2 penalty victory.

Newcomers, Langeloop Real Blue Crane, treated their spectators to a two-all draw after 90 minutes, despite opening the scoring only to go into the halftime interval being led 2-1.After coming back into the game and forcing it to go to penalties, Blue Crane secured a 7-6 victory.
