Triathlete on way to realise his dreams

Dylan first started competing in triathlons three years ago under the guidance of Justin Victor, who coached and mentored him. He then started riding for Team Valencia, doing both MTB and road races, and gained enormous experience through the coaching of Bosseau Bosshof of Infinita Academy.

Dylan was a learner at Penryn College until June 2014 when he made the move to Tuks Sport High School in Pretoria halfway through grade 11.

This decision was only so that he could pursue his dream of becoming a professional triathlete. He is now being coached by Lindsey Parry (SA Elite coach) and Kate Roberts (two times Olympic triathlete and 2014 Commonwealth Games silver medalist) and gets to train with some of the top triathletes in South Africa and Africa.

This past season has been filled with highs and lows. Some of Dylan’s achievements include first team at 5150 Germiston, first in age category at 11 Global Sun City and first overall at Cradle Rock. SA Champs in East London early in March brought back the reality of being a sportsman as he had a terrible race due to illness. He managed to bounce back and three weeks later, came fourth in his category at the World School Championship trials held in Bloemfontein.

Due to this, he has been selected to represent his country at the World School Champs to be held in Versailles, France at the end of May.

This young triathlete has his sights set firmly on racing the world circuit and training every day to realise these dreams in this very physically demanding sport.
