Giants engage in a titanic struggle
It took some time for Uplands College's first XV rugby team to find their rhythm but they eventually beat a passionate and committed Penryn College 28-18 in a frenetic and nail-biting derby on Saturday.
The hosts, Penryn committed too many unforced errors and were their own worst enemy. This contributed to the team not performing as they could and allowed Uplands the advantage to put points on the board and win the match.
Penryn’s boys’ first hockey team pocketed a win by defeating the visitors 1-0 on the Carter B field.
Ending Saturday’s hockey on a spirited note, Uplands’ girls’ first team hockey defeated Penryn by a narrow margin of 1-0. The match started very competitively as both the teams showed resilience and aggression.
Due to bleak weather, not all the netball games were completed. Of the five games that were played, Uplands won four.
Penryn’s u/15 B team won 7-3.
Much is expected of the rematch that will take place at Uplands on Saturday May 30.
