Aces vow to stand their ground
Mpumalanga Black Aces who are mathematically not out of the relegation zone will need to collect at least six points in their last four league outings.
The home team faces tough and unpredictable opponents in these closing stages of the league.
Just yesterday, they played Polokwane City away and will again be on the road this weekend where they have an uphill battle against Bidvest Wits who were also in action last night against Free State Stars.
If they win this fixture they will face the home team sitting comfortably in position two, depending on last night’s results between Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.
“We are not panicking as yet, because we know we are far from the danger zone. Yes, we are going to these last games with a winning mentality and we
hope we would be able to collect maximum points to better our standing in the log,” said Aces spokesperson, Gordon Masondo.
Masondo knows that it’s not going to be easy, especially playing against teams who are fighting relegation, such as Free State Stars and Chippa United.
“We know we are playing against teams that are fighting for their lives and this makes our task a bit hard because these teams are going to throw everything they have at us but we are not going to be moved. We will stand our ground, especially when playing at home,” continued Masondo.
“As for playing against Wits, we all know how hard it is to travel to Bidvest Stadium and come back with all three points. But we have seen other teams going there and coming back with points and that is what we are going to do this weekend,” vowed Masondo.
From this clash, Aces will then host the struggling Chippa United next Wednesday at the Mbombela Stadium at 19:30.
Chippa United are currently in position 13 on the log and are also desperate for maximum points, which would make this fixture more interesting.
Aces will then wind off the season on
May 9, when they take on relegation-bound Free State Stars.
