Ayanda now to represent SA schools squash team
The purpose was to select a team of five players to represent SA Country Schools Squash in the SA National Interprovincial Tournament in Pietermaritzburg in June and July.
Barberton Times recently wrote about the talented Ntimane sisters, Nothando (16) and Ayanda (10).
These two were both in need of funding to attend squash events.
From April 30 to May 3 Ayanda participated in the SA Country Schools Squash Festival in Bloemfontein at Eunice High School for Girls where she represented Mpumalanga. The purpose was to select a team of five players to represent SA Country Schools Squash in the SA National Interprovincial Tournament in Pietermaritzburg in June and July. She did extremely well and played against girls from the Free State, South Western District, Limpopo and a national invitational team from Zimbabwe.
Not only did she amaze the selectors with her skill, but this youngster managed to win most of her games played against opponents who were three years older than her. After the tournament Ayanda was chosen as one of the five members to represent SA Country Schools Squash Team in the SA National Interprovincial Tournament. This is truly a great accomplishment and her dad, well-known Barbertonian squash player Patrick Ntimane, said they were very proud of her. “She assured us that she would continue working hard until she could realise her ultimate goal of representing South Africa. “We would like to thank Barberton Ford, James Munro (managing director of SOS), family and friends for their financial support as this would not have been possible without their sponsorships,” he said.
