Run your way to perfect health and join
The Mashishing/Lydenburg Parkrun is in need of runners to join the five-kilometre course which is held every Saturday at Bofhuis, Mpumalanga.

Mariaan de Lange, a volunteer, said she would like to remind the community about the weekly parkrun because the number of participants has decreased in the past months. “We need runners to join us in an effort to expand the parkrun,” said De Lange.
This event was launched by Bruce Fordyce, the nine-times Comrades ultramarathon winner, seven months ago. Fordyce is South Africa’s representative of parkruns and a running legend throughout the world with many records to his name.
The concept started three years ago in South Africa and there are currently 35 venues throughout the country. This allows runners to participate nationwide wherever they are at 08:00 on Saturday mornings.
“When we started the number of participants was increasing every weekend but it seemed that people lost interest. We want the community to live a healthy lifestyle and we are here to help them to achieve that. All they need to do is join us and we will help them through this thrilling lifestyle,” she explained.
Among the few participants on Saturday was Taryn van Olden, who was visiting from Johannesburg. “I am a member of parkrun at home, so I thought since I am not far from Lydenburg I might as well come and experience a different environment,” she said.
