Ambassadors lead pack in bass trail

What’s really astonishing is that an average of 45 boats compete at every event, which is a testament to the success being achieved by LBT this year. Just consider for a moment that at the Injaka event last March 32 boats competed, and at the same stage last year, LBT was averaging 13 boats less per event than in the 2015 series.

The pattern of poor catches in practice fishing unfortunately continued on tournament day. A total of 26 of the
45 participating teams blanked, and only three teams managed to bring five fish to the scales. This made Ambassadors’ performance even more spectacular.

Shaun Frederiksson and Francois Nel trumped everyone with a 7,31-kilogram limit, more than four kilograms above the second heaviest bag on the day. The baits that did the business for them included buzzbaits, spinnerbaits and flukes. The biggest bass of the day, a slab of 2,53 kilograms caught by Johan Louw of Team Beginners Luck, was taken on a top water bait.
