Late try earns Bergvlam victory
Hoërskool Bergvlam's first rugby XV dug deep to beat Hoërskool Kanonkop during a home winter-sport meeting on Saturday.
Loose-forward Juan Pretorius scored the match-winning try late in the second half and Igne Ferreira converted to give the home team a 12-10 victory.
Vlammies’ fullback Francois Pouw scored a try shortly after the start of the second half.
Kanonkop hit back and took the lead through two tries by centre Ruan Joubert.
Pretorius finished off a brilliant back-line break by Bergvlam to seal the win.
Bergvlam girls’ first hockey team were thrashed 3-9 by Kanonkop. Vlammie’s first netball team produced scintillating play under a blazing winter sun to demolish Kanonkop 17-4.
