Gateway wins two gold medals

Sixteen athletes from Gateway Christian School, the most athletes to participate to date, took part.

The SACSSA Regional Cross-Country Championships took place on June 9 at AJ Swanepoel Stadium in Ermelo.

Sixteen athletes from Gateway Christian School, the most athletes to participate to date, took part. They had to run certain times according to age and distance to qualify for their SACSSA Mpumalanga cross-country colours.

The athletes who qualified were:

Chloé van Loggerenberg – girls u/7
Ruan Jordaan – boys u/7
Renzo Iori – boys u/10
Ivan Jordaan – boys u/10
Jeanré van Loggerenberg – boys u/11
Sean Madondo – boys u/11
Oratile Mathibe – boys u/13
Tiffany Irons – girls u/15
Kyle Blount – boys u/16
Justin Meerholz – boys u/19.

Gold medals were won by the youngest athlete, Chloé van Loggerenberg (girls u/7) and by the oldest athlete in the team, Justin Meerholz (boys u/19).

The SACSSA National Championships will be held on August 1.
