Penryn start cricket season with victory

Penryn kicked off their cricket season on a winning start against the very talkative boys of Barberton this week-end. Penryn captain Ryan Kennett won the toss and sent their opponents in to bat first. Nbulelo Nhlapo had the batsmen in trouble as he took 7 for 21 and Barberton well out for 77. Penryn’s batsmen battled in the middle and were in trouble as they were 50 for 5. But Ryan Kennett and Nbulelo came through with a bang when they heard a voice from the crowd shout, “Come on boys, it’s all on you now!” They went on to seek boundary after boundary and finished the game in a flash, shortly after lunch. Penryn won by three wickets and passed the score with good shots by each batsman. The next game is at Lydenburg and coach Dean van der Merwe, who has worked hard with his players, wants nothing but victory.
