Awesome adventure for bikers with heart
The stage is set for what promises to be an action-packed, exciting and sensational fourth Low's Creek Motorbike Fun Day on Saturday September 5.
Gert Meyer, who is part of the organising team, explained briefly how the event works and how it came about.
“It began with a couple of guys and myself, racing through farms in Low’s Creek to raise funds for a friend’s daughter who needed money for her studies. It has since grown substantially. The following year we had another one for my brother, and then another for the medical costs of a guy from Low’s Creek who had seriously been injured in an accident,” Meyer said.
Participants are treated to various interesting water points along the course.
“What we do is get people who do business with us to put up a water point, where, after a few kilometres on your motorbike, you can enjoy something to drink or snack on. Then they do a little, fun obstacle course before they complete the last few kilometres to the finish at Barberton Ford and Malalane Toyota,” he said.
The day is concluded with prize-giving ceremony and a braai.
Despite being an amateur race, it is open to all bikers. The race has in the past attracted even professional riders, who tackle the more advanced and challenging course.
The entry fee is R250 per bike and there will be free camping sites for all participants.
