Orange on the greens for Hospice golf day

Golfers went orange for the annual Hospice White River Charity Golf Day at White River Country Club on August 5.

A total of 84 players in 21 teams participated in a four-ball alliance to support Hospice White River’s annual charity golf day. Players had a great time on the greens and were entertained by brand ambassador, Renata Stewart, at the prize-giving ceremony. She was dressed in her signature bright-orange “Hot 4 Hospice” outfit and had golfers groaning and laughing at her joke.

The event is an important one on Hospice White River’s fund-raising calendar, and proceeds help the organisation to keep up its pallative care and services to the community.

Players were also urged to join the Candle of Compassion campaign where participants sign a monthly debit order to help the organisation cover its running costs.

A variety of prizes ranging from trees and vouchers to hampers and golf balls were handed out, thanks to the generous sponsors. Players with the longest drives and nearest to the pin were rewarded with prizes, as well as the golfer who stood out most in orange.

There were also random draws in which winners could choose any prize they pleased.

The top team of Barry Shum, Sean Weir, Gavin Geddes and Greg Austin won with only two points at 91, second was the team of Sally Miller, David Dube, Thulani Ntobela and Angelo Sebastion at 89 points and third the team of Carol Lemm, Margaret Finn, Sandy Marais and Viera Lukac at 88 points.
