Local gymnasts celebrates World Gymnastics Day

National Gymnastics Day (NGD) was celebrated world wide on September 19. The Nelspruit Gymnastics Academy (NGA) also participated in this event.

The NGD took place on September 19 at 13:00. Clubs were encouraged to participate in a display at a public venue in their cities. The concept was called “Show your Salute” where the gymnasts performed a routine.

The local academy showed their skill at Ilanga Mall in front of Pick and Pay.

The NGD has been an annual event in the USA for the past 16 years and has raised a great amount of publicity for their sport as well as raised the profile of gymnastics, opening up a great number of opportunities to attract sponsors and funders. This is the first year that US Gymnastics has invited other countries to join them in participating in the NGD.

A number of countries around the world took on this initiative. The key objective of NGD is to have fun, get active and promote health and fitness.
