Olympic Games beckons
Christelle Kriel and Raymond de Freitas, both members of Nelspruit Swimming Academy, competed in the Global Paralympic Games in Ecuador from September 19 to 23.
Thirty countries took part.
Both these swimmers represented South Africa with distinction. Kriel became the star of the South African team by taking one bronze and two silver medals. This milestone was achieved against the backdrop of very strong international competition from both Korea and Japan.
Kriel now has six months in which to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics. Her coach, Gideon du Toit and swimming analyst, André Cloete remain confident that she will achieve Olympic qualification with ease. This Lowvelder has the potential of becoming an international swimming sensation at the 2016 Olympics.
