Golfers support local conservancy with a day on the green
A special golf day for the Hazyview/ Kiepersol Conservancy was recently held at Sabi River Sun and both players and organisers had a great day.
Most golfers look forward to spending a day on the golf course with friends, especially if they can do it for a good cause. This is why a group of golfers gathered at Sabi River Sun recently and helped to raise funds for the Hazyview/Kiepersol Conservancy.
All the required parts to make it a great day came together: the weather was good, the sponsors were generous, the prizes were awesome, the golf club members were professional , the food (thanks to Chef Cindy and her team) and beverages hit the spot, the golf was fun and, most importantly, everyone had a happy day.
Results:
First place: Reg Vermeulen and Michelle McKain
Second place: Greg Schoeman and Ryan McKain
Third place: Eugene Minnaar and Marlene Milne
Longest Day: Craig Pappin and James Topham
Nearest to the pin: Doug Watson, Carel Meintjies, Philip Pappin and Kyle Mohle
Longest drive (men): Darren Lane
The prizes included vouchers from Sabi River Sun, Elephant Whispers, Sabi River Bush Lodge, Elephant Herd Tours and Safaris, dinner for two at Timamoon Lodge and a liquor hamper donated by the Conservancy board.
The Conservancy would also like to thank the long list of sponsors for their support and contributions, as well as everyone who helped behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of the event and everyone who attended.
The money raised enables the Conservancy to survive, as they are dependent on donations. The bulk of the funds they receive are spent on anti-poaching (fish and fauna) and education.
