Super hot action on the pitch delight fans

This past weekend more than 80 goals were registered during the opening matches of the 10th edition of the Selati Cup. More than 60 teams brought their best game to the field in the hope of remaining in the local contest and lifting the coveted Selati Cup trophy on June 5.

According to RCL Foods’ Mr Kenneth Phiri, the tournament got off to a great start at all the venues.

He said, “All games started on time and were big. They were everything we were hoping the kick-off of the tournament would be. They were exciting, thrilling and entertaining for the communities who came out in their numbers.”

Phiri added that for those who attended the matches, every moment was, in a soccer fanatic’s opinion, worth it.

“Soccer lovers came out in numbers and I can say what they witnessed at the stadiums was worth their time,” Phiri said.

Despite some of the matches being played out on open stadiums, they were peaceful with no reports of violence at any of the grounds.

“We would like to thank the supporters for their outstanding behaviour,” Phiri said.

Phiri said they were expecting the support from the community to grow as the tournament progresses.

He said, “If this weekend’s turnout is anything to go by, we should expect supporters to start showing their support for their teams as they advance in the tournament.”
