Teams face off for next round of Selati Cup

The competition for a spot in the next round of the Selati Cup is heating up as teams continued to battle it out this past weekend.

On Saturday February 20 Block A Lambalati Secondary School’s field brought four exciting matches to the community for the day.

Masibekela Brazil and KaMhlushwa Junior Stars were the first teams out on the pitch. They provided a slow but promising start with a 1-0 scoreline after 90 minutes, in favour of Masibekela Brazil.

Dludluma Young Chiefs and Mzinti Mighty Bucs were next on the pitch, and played to a two-all draw.

Forcing the encounter to be decided on penalties, which were also very closely contested, Dludluma Young Chiefs were fortunate enough to acquire the one deciding goal during the penalty shoot-out which ended 5-4.

KaMhlushwa Junior Stars ran over Ndlovu United when they defeated them 2-0, not even allowing them to get to the scoreboard.

Mzinti Intermillan, closed the day in style at the Lambalati Secondary School field by sweeping the floor with Mangweni Bafanas.

Mzinti Intermillian sent the visiting side back empty-handed with a 1-0 defeat.

In some soccer action hosted at the Mzinti Young Pirates Soccer Field, Eastern Transvaal and Jeppes Ocean swallows, got things off on a very heated start by playing to a goalless draw, and going on to a tightly decided 6-7 penalty shoot-out, that went in favour of Eastern Transvaal.

Buffelspruit Juveniles’ run in the tournament came to a quick halt when they clashed with Block B Blackpool.

The latter sent the youngsters back home with a narrow 2-1 defeat.

Despite not having it easy Langeloop Happy Boys, made it past Mawewe Spurs, with a 4-2 victory on penalties after playing to a goalless draw.
