Modikwa runners gear up for Comrades Marathon

The Modikwa Marathon Club in Burgersfort is back on track with runners preparing for the forthcoming Comrades Marathon in May

The Modikwa Marathon Club in Burgersfort is back on track with runners preparing for the forthcoming Comrades Marathon in May.

This past weekend the club performed very well at the 30th commemorative Loskop Ultra Marathon, where Jeffrey Nkuna qualified for the Comrades. He finished 83th overall with a time of 03:37:20. The team also welcomed back Justice Mautlane and Portia Mabena, after both athletes had battled with injuries that kept them out of the 2015 marathon season.

The runners are now preparing for the Comrades on May 29. “The marathon club would like to thank the Modikwa management and fellow employees for their great support. The club would especially like to thank Jomo Kwadi for all his assistance,” said Willem Montgomery from Modikwa Mine.
