Youngsters play in their first-ever FDS tourney
Three teams from SuperSport United Soccer School Mbombela, participated in the Futebol de Salao (FDS) World Cup tournament in Fourways Johannesburg this past weekend.
It was the first year that the soccer school sent an u/8, u/10 and an u/12 team to compete.
A total of 18 players from schools such as Laerskool Laeveld, Bergland, Nelspruit Primary, Klipspringer and St Peters showed their skill in the City of Gold.
Zabilon Maduana (49) established the school last year June. He is assisted by two well-trained and accredited coaches Edwin and Brighton Maduana.
The main aim of this tournament is not only to expose the kids’ talent to the world, but also for it to be a learning curve for both the boys and the technical team.
“Congratulations to the boys. I think it was worth it, hence the experience. The boys and their coaches were also rewarded with medals for their hard work,” said Maduana.
“We are looking forward to the 2018 FDS World Cup.”
The programme provides training sessions for kids aged between five and 15 years. Central to the programme is the Skills Badge Challenge, which consists of a first-start badge, a kick-start badge, and level one to level five badges.
“Our coaching is unique, exciting, innovative and designed not only to challenge but also to reward players in every aspect of the game,” said Maduana.
