Whopping 19 records bite the dust at Penryn

Penryn Preparatory Schools' interhouse athletics kicked off bright and early on Friday with the field events and what a way to warm it up.

In the girls u/13 division, athletes witnessed the school’s shot put record, that dated back to 2004, being broken by Bernica Lourens.

In the boys u/11 group, Simukhonze Mdluli also set a new shot put record and his classmate Luke Barnard broke the long jump record.

At the high jump station fingernails were bit to the quick during the u/11 boys item. The action did not end there, as the u/13 girls went to battle in a nerve-racking high jump duel that did not seem would ever end as competitors pushed each other to the limit.

The scene for Saturday had been set. The long-awaited anticipation was finally over.
