Curro Nelspruit’s athletes bags three trophies

Curro Nelspruit's athletes made a clean sweep at the annual Independent Schools Athletics Champs, hosted by Uplands on Saturday.

They took home the trophies for junior and senior victrix ludorum as well as best track athlete.

In the year of Uplands’ 90th celebration, they welcomed eight visiting schools: Woodlands Sabie, Riverview, Summerhill, St Peter’s, Meridian Karino, Curro Nelspruit, Flamboyant and Penryn.

A total of 73 events were fiercely contested.

Erin Merensky of Curro bagged a total of 2 750 ASA points – the highest total of any athlete. She was awarded the senior victrix ludorum trophy.

With a total of 960 ASA points, Bella Khoza, also of Curro, was presented the junior victrix trophy.

Uplands’ Marley Waspe snatched the senior victor ludorum award for his 2 370 ASA points.

Summerhill Prep School in Hazyview is set to host the 10th edition of the event in 2019.
