NBC takes the spoils
On Sunday, Ben Enslin and his team of Nelspruit Bowls Club (NBC) were crowned Mpumalanga Lowveld trips champions at Matumi.

Willem Goosen and his side were up against Enslin, Pieter Briel Junior and Quentin Wilson, also of Nelspruit in the finals. The score peeled at 10 shots each leading into the last nine ends. Two successive scores of five by Enslin put the result beyond doubt as they ran out champs by 30 shots to 11.
The ladies teams on Saturday had a hard- fought battle to see who would qualify for the knock-out stages the following day.
Two teams from LVCC booked their place in the finals captained by Marilyn Coulson and Gillian Beattie respectively. After 14 ends, the scores were level at 14 shots each. Beattie, Debbie Day and Pat Jones picked up six shots on the next three ends to clinch the ladies trips title.
The men’s third-placed team were Koos Pearson from Nelspruit Bowls, who narrowly prevailed against the hard driving Francois Hanekom, while Botha took third place for the ladies.
