Selati Marathon gets most pre-entries yet
The popular Selati 2-in-1 Marathon will see its most participants yet on Saturday morning, with a record number of 1 737 pre-entries.
This is the 3oth year the Selati Marathon will be held and so far it looks be bigger and more exciting than before.
Runners will set off from the Malelane Rugby Club at 07:00 on Saturday (12 May) on routes following dirt roads through farms, sugar cane fields and featuring views of the Kruger National Park.
Runners are urged to come early to see the ceremonial firing of the little cannon that opens the event.

Distances include the 21km and 10km routes, as well as the 2km and 4,9km fun walks, with all routes ending at the rugby club.
The event is organised by the Onderberg Marathon Club, with Laerskool Malelane presenting the fun run as a fundraiser.

The Selati Marathon is not just aimed at the fit and serious athletes. The fun walk caters for children and adults who want to enjoy the great spirit among participants.

If you haven’t entered yet, you can still do so at the rugby club on tomorrow afternoon between 16:00 and 19:00 and on Saturday between 05:30 and 06:45. A R30 penalty fee will be charged for the 10km and 21km. Race numbers can also be collected then.

All finishers will receive a goody bag, with medals and prize-money also up for grabs.
There will be a fun park where kids can safely play during the event.
