Pumas must show no mercy

The iCollege Pumas face the Windhoek Draught Welwitschias at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek tomorrow.

It is a game the Pumas should win. After losing 7-39 at home against the Hino Valke on the opening weekend of the competition, the Welwitschias were thrashed 73-20 by the Vodacom Blue Bulls at Loftus, who just a week before had lost 36-18 to the iCollege Pumas.

Last Saturday though, the Welwitschias showed improvement, losing at home by 10 points (45-35) to the Golden Lions.

The Namibians are bottom of the log table.

They have leaked 24 tries in three matches in this SuperSport Challenge campaign, and the Pumas will want to hit early and hard to put the result of the game beyond doubt before half-time.

The Pumas are coming off a bye and were knocked down to second place on the north-section log by the Vodacom Blue Bulls, who annihilated the Hino Valke 35-64 last Saturday.

With the Blue Bulls having their first bye this weekend, the Pumas will regain top spot with a win in Windhoek.

Six changes have been made in the match 22 compared to the one which defeated the Lions.

Bruiser, Willie Engelbrecht will don the number-eight jersey after recovering from a concussion. Nardus van der Walt moves to the bench.

Henko Marais makes his debut at inside centre. Captain Hennie Skorbinski moves to outside centre and Barend Smith is being rested.

Abrie Greisel will earn his first Pumas cap when he comes on as a rolling sub for Reynier van Rooyen.

Stefan Ungerer is being given a break after two excellent performances in the Pumas jersey.

Louis Albertse and Brian Shabangu are being rested.

Simon Westraadt and Marne Coetzee are in the match squad.

Tazz Fuzani is injured and replaced by Hugo Kloppers, who will play off the bench. Jannie Stander will start.
