Locals hunt down medals in Secunda

It was a commendable outing for local bodybuilders, Landie Coetzee and Nadia Wilmans at the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) Novice Show, held at Ukhozi Lidge, Secunda.

The 41-year-old Coetzee grabbed a gold medal in the ladies body fitness, novice category while Wilmans, who competed in her first-ever competition, also took first place in the bikini fitness category.

Wilmans was crowned overall winner. “I have entered a IFBB competition four times before, but due to unforeseen circumstances I had to withdraw every time,” Wilmans explained.

“I pushed through and yes, I expected to return with a gold medal. I have worked really hard and I want to keep on pushing myself.”

Coetzee, who has done four National Amateur Body-Builders’ Association (Nabba) competitions, enjoyed the show due to her first IFBB performance.

“It is the most rewarding feeling to place first in your category. Hard work pays off and I can’t wait to see what the future holds,” said Coetzee.

In July the duo will compete in the Mpumalanga intermediate show, also set to take place in Secunda.
