Pack of wolves excel in Sandton

Wolves Martial Arts' (WMA) Mea Vermeulen bagged two gold medals and four silver medals at the recent Arnold Sport Festival Africa. 

This is the largest series of multi-sport festivals in the world and it recently took place at the Sandton Convention Centre.

She was one of her academy’s top achievers.

Teammates Carmolieta Vermeulen and Roux Burger also returned with medals.

Carmolieta, who has been included in the senior Protea team to represent her country at the 2018 Tang Soo Do World Championships in London later this year, claimed a first position, three second places and one bronze medal.

Junior Protea representative, Roux achieved one gold, two silver and a bronze medal. WMA were represented by 25 students and did extremely well at the tournament. They brought back 18 gold,
27 silver and 18 bronze medals.

The championships represented more than eight martial arts styles, with more than 650 athletes participating.
