Local club host fifth league

Various provincial clubs, such as Secunda, Piet Retief, Ermelo, as well as local shooters from White River, participated in tough competition.

White River Shooting Club hosted the fifth provincial handgun league at their home ground on Saturday.

Various provincial clubs, such as Secunda, Piet Retief, Ermelo, as well as local shooters from White River, participated in tough competition.

In the open handgun category, Dirk Becker of White River took the spoils with a round of 100 per cent.

Becker was followed by yet another member of White River, Ronald Gower, with 93 per cent and Wynand Nieuwenhuyzen with 82.

The standard division was won by Paul Loock. Local crime-fighter, Tobie du Preez from Divergent Ops took second place with 80 per cent while Johnny Naude was third with 79 per cent.

Hendrik Engelbrecht from Secunda was on target in the production division with 96 per cent. Wilhelm Heyl came second with 96 and in third was Ruan van Heerden with 93 per cent.

Top lady positions went to Andrea Stevenson, super senior Irving Stevenson and junior Dian Heyl.
