Former Vlammie thrills the crowd at Newlands

Former dancing sensation of Hoërskool Bergvlam, Suné-Lee Esch, now captains the DHL Stormers' cheerleaders.

In 2016 she auditioned for a spot as a cheerleader at the Cape Town-based franchise, and nowadays she leads a team of 12 dancers.

The 23-year-old started recreational dancing at the age of 15 where she featured in her school’s revue between 2010 and 2013. She has been on stage at the civic theatre for the annual Tolly’s Dance Academy show and performed with Natascha C during her Cabaret and Burlesque shows. In 2013 she was part of the opening act as a backup dancer for Innibos’ theme song.

For three consecutive years, Esch was crowned as the category and regional winner in the contemporary dance section at the eisteddfod.

After matriculating at Vlammies, she did a four-year course at a theatre institution in Cape Town where she featured as a dancer, assistant choreographer and assistant director in many stage works. She obtained her international teaching diploma in Imperial Classical Ballet and Modern Theatre.

“I am fortunate to do what I love. I am excited to share my knowledge and passion.”
She made her first performance for the Stormers in 2016. Most of the choreography seen on the field has been done by Esch.
