Uplands ready for action at SA champs

Uplands Prep's u/13 boys' hockey team arrived in Potchefstroom yesterday ahead of the South African Junior Hockey Championships.

In the finals of the Mpumalanga Championships, which were played in Ermelo last weekend, Uplands beat Laerskool Middelburg 2-0.

The boys also clinched the trophy during last year’s provincial champs. Of the 29 games the boys played, they lost three and drew three. The u/12 girls finished ninth while the u/13 girls first played against Middelburg and won 2-1 in an eight-second playoff. They were victorious when they beat Goedehoop in another thrilling eight-second playoff.

The u/13s lost the final match and closed their season with a well-deserved silver medal.

Uplands’ u/12 boys also placed second in the province and the u/11s took the bronze.
