MP Swimming team keep the trophy

For the second consecutive year, Mpumalanga Swim returned with the Golfinhos Sprint gala trophy.

Captains, Jacey Bekker and Thelise Saunder’s team did the province proud in Maputo.

More than 50 provincial swimmers travelled to Mozambique where they competed at the Olympic Swimming Pool of Zímpeto over the weekend. The girls placed first overall and the boys ended in second place.

Despite the cold weather and gusting winds, the hosts made every effort to ensure all swimmers had a great experience. The gala was broadcast live on television – a first for the swimmers – with some being interviewed between the different events.

Team Mpumalanga.

Performance-wise, quite a few athletes produced new personal best times.

The team that will represent its province at the South African School Championships will be finalised at the end of the week.
