He won four medals for the country in a recent competition.

The 16-year-old Jakobus Terblanche has recently become the only swimmer from Mpumalanga included in the South African junior swimming team that took part in Namibia at the Cana Zon IV Championships.

Terblanche, who is originally from the Guppie Tigers Swimming Club, won a gold medal in the 50-metre breaststroke with a time of 31:07.

He also won a silver in the 200-metre and 100-metre breaststroke and obtained a bronze in the 50-metre backstroke.

The South African relay team that he was a part of also came home with a few medals.
Terblanche’s coach, Nelia Pienaar, said she was very proud of him.

“This is just the beginning of big things to come for Jakobus,”

Pienaar said.

Terblanche is currently training for the South African National Junior Championships that will take place in Durban in March.
