Teams face off in first round of local football league

The Nkomazi Local Football Association’s annual league kicked off on Sunday, with matches at KaMaqhekeza and Driekoppies stadiums.

The tournament gives two teams the chance to be promoted to the SAB league, so the footballers are eager to prove themselves worthy.

Sunday’s preliminary round results are as follows

Kamaqhekeza Stadium

• Thambokhulu Jan Leeds 1-2 Langeloop Makhundu

• Dludluma Albany City 3-1 Masibekela Young Heroes

• Mandulo Double Seven 1-3 Buffelspruit Home Defenders

Driekoppies Stadium

• Mangweni Crusaders 1(3)-1(4) Driekoppies Shongwe Highlanders

• Jeppes Reef Cobra 8-2 Mbuzini Wits

• Magogeni Try Again 4-1 Phiva FKW United

Tomorrow, the two stadiums will once again be packed with soccer fans for the next round of matches, from 09:00 to 17:00.

The quarterfinals are scheduled to take place on Sunday at KaMhlushwa Stadium, with the semifinals and finals scheduled for July 6.
