There was furious, yet spirited, action on the hockey and rugby fields, and netball courts, as Hoërskool Bergvlam hosted its annual derby winter sport clash against Hoërskool Barberton on Saturday.

The home school was undefeated on the day across all sports.

The Vlammies girls’ first hockey team blazed with confidence and defeated their rivals 15-0.

The first rugby teams played a humdinger; a match that could have gone either way until the final whistle.

Vlammies won the hard-fought contest 15-12.
