Sizzling golf played in mining league’s third round in Lydenburg

Mototolo Anglo American, Samancor Eastern Chrome Mines, Two Rivers Platinum Mine and Glencore Eastern Mines are participating in this mining league.

In a record-breaking turnout, 60 golfers participated in the Eastern Limb Mining Golf League at the Lydenburg Golf Club on July 23.

Mototolo Anglo American Platinum hosted the third league game, and all five teams scored well over 100 points. Glencore Eastern Mines’ first team emerged as the overall winner with 117 points, followed by Two Rivers Platinum Mine’s first team with 116 points. Two Rivers Platinum Mine’s third team won third place with 115.

Johan van Tonder, the general manager of Mototolo Anglo American Platinum, presented the winners with their prizes.
The overall lead in the league is still held by Two Rivers Platinum Mine team one, with 50 points.
Glencore Eastern Mines’ team one is second in the league with 34.
Mototolo Anglo American’s team one and Samancor Eastern Chrome Mines’ team one share third place in the league with 27 points.

Johan van Tonder, Rudi Hanekom, Godfrey Watermeyer, Johann Bezuidenhout (receiving the prize on behalf of Johan Arnoldi) and Corné Combrink. The winning team is Glencore Eastern Mines.

• Best individual score: Rudi Hanekom (Glencore Eastern Mines) with 49 points, earning his team five log points on the day.
