Tenacious Lowveld athletes conquer steep challenges at Tar&Trail
The various races started and finished at Nirvana Country Lodge.
The City of Mbombela Marathon Club’s Sifiso Ngcobo won the 21.1km race at the LowMed Tar&Trail on Saturday.
He clocked 01:06:57.
The event, which started and finished at Nirvana Country Lodge, included a half-marathon, a 10km race, an 18km trail run and a 12km trail run.
Sibonge Nkosi-Masheko of Bella’s Athletics Club was second in the half-marathon in 01:13:25, and teammate Vusumuzi Mtshali was third in 01:35:35.

The honours in the women’s 21.1km went to Nomvula Sithole. The LowMed runner was in a class of her own and finished in 01:31:18.
Mbombela Marathon Club’s Wendy Bosch was second in 01:50:00, and Riana Rudolph of Uniwisp third in 01:59:50.
