Hoërskool Nelspruit’s team swims away with 2024 Interhigh Gala champions’ title in Mbombela

Four record were broken at the Interhigh Gala

Hoërskool Nelspruit (NHS) won the 2024 Ehlanzeni Interhigh Gala on Wednesday February 21.

The event was hosted by Barberton High School at Van Riebeeck Park in Mbombela. The NHS swimmers earned 1 147 points at the afternoon to night gala.

Uplands College’s team were second with 690, and Rob Ferreira High School’s swim team third with 254 points.

NHS also claimed three trophies. Rossouw van Wyk was the junior victor ludorum and Neil Burger the senior victor ludorum. Neil swam the best individual performance (50m butterfly, boys).

The fourth to eighth places were:
• 4th: Curro Nelspruit
• 5th: Penryn College
• 6th: Barberton High School
• 7th: Komatipoort Akademie
• 8th: Independent.

• Neil Burger (NHS): Boys 16 100m freestyle – 56;21, 50m butterfly – 27;53
• Jaime Maritz (Curro Nelspruit): Girls 15 50m butterfly – 31;55
• Radley Henning (NHS): Boys 17 50m freestyle – 25;95
• NHS (Radley Henning, Eben Terblanche, Dylan Scholtz and Neil Burger): Boys 17 200m freestyle relay – 01:50;45.
